Service Engine Soon light

Service Engine Soon light
Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this before:
My 'Service Engine' light came on today. It didn't just come on and go off, it is staying on. I've got a 2000 GT, 5 speed, hard top. Its got apx. 47, 700 miles on it. (It's due for an oil change in the next week). Only mod so far is a K & N air filter. The owners manual said that it probably is an emissions problem. It says to drive it for three 'cycles' and if it doesn't go away then get it serviced. It also states that if the Service Engine light is blinking while driving, it could mean engine misfire is occurring and damage to the catalytic converter could result.

Has anyone experienced this before, what did you have to do to get it corrected?

Thanks,

Well, how many miles do you have on the oil? How often do you change the oil? Every 3000 miles?

As for the light I had some experiance with it when I was doing my spark plugs, removed my CAI and disconnected the MAF from the car and started it... The light came on even after i replaced everything, it was just a simple fix. Maybe that is what it is for you too. Make sure your connection from your MAF to your relay is good and solid, then dissconnect the battery for about 10-15 minutes and reconnect. If the light is still on then do the Cylce thing, is still on then just have it checked out.

RE: Service Engine Soon light
if you dont want to wait 10-15 min just hop in the car and turn everything on for a min to drain all power so turn on headlight step on brake dome light etc... let us know if this works
