2000 gt won't start

I have a 2000 gt that will rev when starting but won't catch. The GT will do this for about 15 minutes and then eventually catch and start. The problem comes and goes. It will work fine for 2 or 3 weeks then start acting up. I live in Orlando and it seems to only do it when it is humid or damp out. Any help would be greatly appreciated as no mechanic I've gone to so far has an answer. Thanks!

my educated guess:

Idle Air Controller.

it controlls well,, the air when idleing

there is a small spring that handles this, and its VERY VERY VERY common on many 4.6's (not just Mustangs) to stick, thus causing your problem

let me guess, if you continue giving it gas, you can keep it running, but the rpms just DIVE the moment you get off the throttle..

there is a 4.6 thread about it in the sticky section, check there, then try some of their suggestions

ive got a picture showing you (sort of) where it is, its held on by i believe two small screws, and the fix can be pretty simple

for starters, next time it acts up, just tap on it with a screwdriver or something else solid
(seems silly, but it is a very temporary fix to get you to where you are going)

then, take it apart, and clean it with carberator cleaner, this fixes the problem in most cases

however, if you still experiance the problem, its no more thnan 70$ at a normal auto parts store
