If I were going to, I'd just throw a PC together and bolt it in there somewhere... they are going to charge a ton more than just a home-brew PC. Personally, my car is for racing, not a crate on wheels that I can throw as much crap in as possible for the bling factor.

No way do, what if it caught a virus? Would an ASE certified ford mechanic know how to fix that?

The computer will be mainly used for real-time car stats as well as a nice mp3/dvd player too. It was just idea... :P

I'm gathering the parts for a computer to install in my car right now. Grand total will be $1300 with amp and speakers. StreetDeck is more expensive than building your own, but then again, most gearheads I know aren't into computers like I am.
Thinking about it though, you could get an iMac Mini for about $500 and a touchscreen LCD for about $400... That's way cheaper than what I'm doing or the $1600 StreetDeck.

Cars aren't for taxes? How fun would it be to show that civic with the 10 inch chrome tip you just smoked exactly how much your refund is after he catches up to you at the next red light? [8D]

I use a handheld GPS for road navigation now.. and can imagine a fully integrated (nav/audio/engine management/etc) factory touchscreen system will soon become standard equipment.

I wouldn't bother doing my taxes on the road either lol, but wouldn't mind having the ability to GOOGLE stuff while driving
