Default Throttle body replacement

Well, I bought my car last May and since then I've had the front suspension fixed on warrenty and the throttle position sensor and today the throttle body itself... and on the drive home the car went into fail safe AGAIN. I guess if I'm generous, I'll say that's two strikes, I'm not looking forward to strike three. Has anyone else had these same throttle/fail safe drive-mode problems and was your dealer able to get it right? Just blowing off steam I suppose, I still love the car but the honeymoon is about over!

So let me see if I understand correctly. Your car has been in the shop twice in 10 months and you are crying about it, right?

Its an 05.
Times in shop have been 3x for throttle problems, Monday will make 4, + twice for the front end problem.
Six times above routine maint. seems like a lot. I'm not "crying", just a bit frustrated. Maybe everything will settle down. I'm a buy and hold kind of guy, my other vehicle is a 97 Explorer, and I hope to still own the Mustang 8+ years from now... still love to drive it.

Don't cry....my last car was a 2004 SVT Focus, bought it new with 45 miles on it, and in its year and a half in my driveway it went to the dealer 29 times for warranty alone (prolly 44 time total), and spend 93 nights there, the rental car company employees new me by first name when I'd walk through the door. 11 trannys (4 blew up on the lift), 8 shift cables, 7 struts, 4 sets of motor mounts, 3 cats, new ac condenser, new cam cover and variable vale timing gaskets, new sunroof deflector, new badges, new rear seat, front seat re-dyed, new mirror because the heating element went out, ground connector broke off the block, new rim, new lug stud, new brakes, and a ton of other stuff. so do me a favor and don't complain, hell I never did oh forgot to mention I'm in court right now with Ford over a $15,000 lemon-law lawsuit, and your complaining about a little throttle problem, lol.

Wow. Ok. Good luck on the court case! Sounds like they don't have a "wheel" to stand on.

Now I'm wired for science. The dealer has installed a data recorder that captures much more than the car's computer. If I think something is going wrong, I have a special button to fire up the recorder as well (as well as it running on automatic).

They said the throttle problem happens in about one in ten 05's. They used to replace the throttle body, then Ford changed the fix to just the throttle sensor. I have to admit, they're giving it a good try for a fix now...

Oct 08. Back to the past > Car went into limp home mode on the freeway, rush hour, a month ago. My dealership replaced the Throttle positon sensor - again, lucky for me they had records of past work and I'm not too far past warrenty expiration. They gave me the major after warrenty discount. Hope this isn't going to happen every two years, next time somewhere worse (on vacation?).
