I have noticed that sometimes when I accelerate heavily every so often a steady tone will sound for a second and a light will come on my dash. I believe it is red but dissapears before I have a chance to see what it is.

It is not traction control

 

Which light? Are you sure your trunk lid is fully latched? Mine did this a couple of times because I guess when I was getting my keys out I accidently hit the trunk release.
