Raced a Porshe
I was on I-95 and this newer porsche carrera (NOT THE TURBO ONE, but I'm not to familiar with those cars so I don't know the exact model)...and me were just crusining along next to each other...and I saw him looking at my car because I have really loud exhaust...so I got him to have a friendly race... cause I wanted to see how my car would do. I thought I was gonna get smoked but to my suprise we stayed neck and neck and he didn't pass me at all...his bumper was actually directly horizontal from where I was sitting so I maybe was like 1 or 2 feet in front from his bumper to my bumper...I was pretty suprised and so was the guy in the porsche, we both gave each other a thumbs up and went our seperate ways...just thought I share it...anyone else have a similar experience?
Phrosty sure is having a bunch of fun on the road it seems. Every day I see another race with you. lol. Though I do know how the car sounds as I have the same exhaust. By the way, how do you like it?
The exhaust? I f*cking love it! haha...I know I watched your video and I was like the sounds just like mine! How do you like it? Sometimes I think its too loud but then when everyones head turns and people give u thumbs up in traffic its worth the tickets!! haha
Well, I love the loudness. Though at certain RPMs (Usually like 1800-2000 it gets all Raspy, broken up, and unclean. That's how it sounds from the interior of the car, so I'm not sure if it sounds like that to anyone else... but it just doesn't sound 'complete' and it irritates me. Though cruising at 65mph and it's just rumblin' along it sounds awesome. I think when I get those resonator's on, that it'll fix my problems, I hope. Oh, and you would need to get some too... So it gives us some back pressure, our exhaust's are actually too freeflowing for the engine and it's making us lose power.
i beleive you man ... just today i raced my bro's porsche carrera 4 .... it's a 2002 ... he says somethings wrong with the motor... anyway ... we started straight from zero ...so i jumped infront and then shifted and then kept infront of him by half a car's length ..then he was getting me sowwwwwwwwwwwwwwly ... but it's not a problem but because i had pasengers with me ... but i was really happy
Yea I was curious about the backpressure...what kind of resonators are you getting?...I know exactly what you mean when you hit certain RPM's...it sounds like the car is farting...like it gets real loud then suddenly cuts out...then gets real loud again once it hits higher RPM's...yea but when your hauling *** on the interstate it sounds beast!
haha nice...good to know it wasn't a dream or something lol...I know they creep up on you fast, like you think your far ahead then they hit a good shift and you see the car just getting launched up to you...but its still not enough to make the pass
Fred's shop makes custom resonator's that they are going to weld before the axle back. I'm not exactly sure what they are, or what they look like. Though I think he said it's like a 14 inch stainless steel pipe with fins or something? I've no idea.
oh true...I think I know what you mean...take a look at this link http://www.lmperformance.com/4698/73.html
it looks like that has fins in it or something
it looks like that has fins in it or something
No, that's just the design of a tip... not related. NYC got the resonator's installed, but I'm not sure if he got a look at them or anything. Supposedly the resonator's are going to do three things. One: Clean up the unpleasant breaking at RPMs, and give it just one smooth tone. Two: Give it a deeper sound. Three: Backpressure, which should free up anywhere from 5-10 HP.
