06 hood shaking
when driving 75-80mph there seems to be alot of hood movement going on. i know its light weight and made of aluminum. my latch seems to be very secure when i ck'd it. just wondering if anyone else has noticed. im thinking hood pins just to be safe. or is this much ado about nothing.
no. when i ck'd it, it seems to latched securely. the hood itself seems stable just ripples or wave like motion starting 1/3 past the front moving towards the windsheild. my wife noticed it also today when we were out.
WildRed,
I think Sickgrin was suggesting you adjust the hoodstops to extend them--not just to check if the hood is latching well. This problem came up before, and a good number of folks found that the hood stops were too low. This allows for the hood to close easily and "latch" securely, but it leaves room for play. Adjust the stops to the point you have some bit of trouble getting the hood to actually latch, and your hood-dance should go away.
On my car, I need to give it a good stiff/sharp shove to get it to latch, but it's perfectly stable at 110 mph (track verified).

I've had the same problemo' too. Starts to get bad especially when it's windy outside too. I still have yet to adjust the hood stops. Probably should go adjust today!![:@]. Are there 4 hood stops and rotate them counter-clock? I was going a bit over 135mph + down the Hwy yesterday and sometimes I'm wondering if the hood is going to fly off. Ripples badly on the driver's side. Don't have time to look at the other side really at those speeds..
lol.
lol.
I have heard you can apply something like white-out on the stops and close the hood to make sure they are making good contact. I have no shaking on mine and it's some what hard to close.
I live off I94 in S.W. MI. and it's not uncomon to run at 100mph for miles at a time with people coming through from Indiana. Speed limit is 70mph and you can almost get run over in the far left lane if your doing 70.

Chalk or small amount of red or blue rtv works nicely. It's common for one or two to not be touching at all. My hood is snug, I don't see any movement but haven't been past 105mph. I close my hood by dropping from about a foot up.
