Default idle 'learning' ?

I was going through the manual and noticed that it says when you disconnect the battery, after you re-connect, to let it idle for 10 min or so to re-learn it's ideal idle point. how important is this? After i installed my intake, I didn't do that after re-connecting the battery. I noticed when I start the car, it idles high, and quickly comes down to a lower idle... If i want to re-do that process, can i just disconnect the battery and let it idle after reconnecting? can i only disconnect one of the cables (pos or neg)? is a re-tune necessary after this ? thanks...

Yeah. This should also be done after retuning, since that clears the CPU... But I don't do it.

Perhaps this is why my IACV is going bad?

Idle Air Control Valve

Just determines the idle of the car. I've been throwing an engine code because my car doesn't idle properly. The suspect is a bad MAF or IACV
