Default AC Problem

So my ac compressor keeps going on and off every 10 seconds or so so I'm guessing there is a leak in the system and it's a saftey devise so the compressor does not run dry. I can actually hear something leaking when I turn off the car. Anyway my problem is I have a zex system installed, steeda underdrive pullies, a SCT2 tune, and CAI on the car. I'm guessing in order to not get screwed at the dealer for an AC warranty fix I should retune the car to stock, and take out the Zex system but anyone think I should put the stock airbox back in. How about the pullies? This happened to anyone else? The biggest pain would be taking the feeder hose from the bottle out from under the car.

Don't take off anything. Nothing you have done in any way changes or interferes with the AC. Tell them you know that if they give you crap. Back it up with a printed copy of the warranty. And the high cycle rate is sorta like you said, but in reality it is shutting off due to the low presure switch telling it too. And yes, you have a leak. But what you hear, if it is even from the compressor, would be the high and low presure sides equalizing. This is normal, you should have heard your home AC make a sound like it's "blowing off" when it shuts off between cycles.

I just got mine back from Ford (05 GT).The car has 1700 miles on it, the AC worked good last year but this year when I went to use it it wouldn't even blow cool air. They found 3 leaking orings, so they went ahead and changed about 6 I think. The AC is great again! I have always been told if you have a car that sits up for any length of time you need to cycle the AC. I guess I will this winter.

WAIT! The A/C compressor is supposed to cycle on and off pretty frequently. That was the way it was designed. It does this in order to kepp the car cold, but not too cold. The only time it will run contiuous, is if it is very hot outside. You sould also hear a hissing sound after you turn the car of if the compressor has been running. If the car is still blowing cold air, then there is probably nothing wrong with the A/C. If you put a thermometer in one of the middle vents with the full A/C on, then a 15-20 degreee drop from the outside temperature means the A/C is running excellent.
