+1 ChevyKiller. Might as well go with 4.10 or 4.30. Been working rear ends for a long time! Trust Me!! FRRP ONLY!! Don't forget the chrome cover![8D]

Way too many people are happy with their 4.10 gears, and that's what I went with. Definitely add me to the happy with 4.10's list. I haven't seen anybody post any regrets "yet". First gear is NOT useless as I've seen that some people have "heard", I use it every time I take off. I do 80% of my driving on the turnpike at 75-80 mph and no complaints, except for about a 2 mpg drop, but keep in mind the 80% turnpike driving. At the drags, it doesn't take any longer to shift to 4th gear with 4.10's than it does with 3.73's, and if you have 3.73's you WILL go to 4th in the qtr mile. With the 4.10's you can easily feel a seat of the pants difference in acceleration just driving normally. Also, everybody likes to say "Motive" gears are noisey... believe them!

LOL this is too funny, you guys are arguing over 3.73's and 4.10's. LOL! Im runnin a 3.27, with the kind of power Im puttin to the ground this gear is just right. Let me put it this way. Last time I raced a '99 cobra, in first gear I'd EASILY pull 2 car lengths, let off the gas to let em catch up, hit 2nd pull 4 car lengths let off, let em catch up. The guy was so pissed he started punchin his wheel. Here is my advice to all of you, wait on your rear end gear. Brace your car up and do engine mods FIRST. Then tailor your gear to how much power your car is puttin out. If youre in a 400HP, and do 95% street driving, a 4.10 IS worthless, not to mention itll lose traction way faster and easier. Now drive that car in the rain, can you say scary. Where I live it rains a lot, so your bound to get stuck in it sooner or later. But if its a strip only car, go for it.

Have you checked out pricing for parts and labor yet on the installation for changing out the rear end?

I have 4:10's in my 05' 5spd and love them, actually would consider going to 4:30's if I had to do it over again! 90% of my driving is at 65mph or less but I didn't loose ANY gas mileage and I still use 1st gear all the time. I would gear your car for what you use it for 90% of the time, 75 plus mph use 3:73's, but if you mostly stay under 70, definetly use the 4:10's. The way I looked at it was I wanted it to be noticably faster since i'm spending money on these and didn"t want to be dissapointed afterwards, yet not loose much fuel economy. Thus I figured if I didn't like the loss of mpg, I can always drive a little closer to the speed limits, thats easier than going back in to replace the gears again and can save you money in two ways!

you want 3.73s in a T-3650 tranny!? LMFAO, dont even waste your money, you can do 4.30 gears and still be around 2800 rpms at 80 mph

I can't speak about the Motive gears being noisy but I can say the FFRP are NOT the only quiet ones made as far as 4.10 ratio goes. I have Pro Racing 5.0 gears installed and they are just like original equipment except when going off throttle at low speeds there is a slight whirring sound but not objectionable by any means. My dynotuner told me to expect it with 4.10 gears regardless of manufacturer. I used Royal Purple 75 W 140 and didn't add the special gear lubricant from Ford. I think if I added that into the rear end the slight noise I do hear when off the gas decelerating will probably disappear. For those people thinking of going 3.73 versus 4.10 I don't understand why nobody ever talks about considering a 3.90? I think it is a great comprimise especially for those that plan on going the N/A route in the future. Any comments?
