Default Stant Locking Gas Cap

I got my Stant from Rockauto and I'm happy with it. One thing though is it can be touchy to remove. I've got to pull on the key lightly while I turn the cap to the left to remove. You'll see what I mean but I figured I'd save you some embarrassment at the pump wondering how to get it off. Also, leave the key in the cap when you remove it so it goes back on easy. I got rid of the plastic lanyard because it was a hassle wrestling with it.

I have that cap, how the heck did you get the lanyard off the old one? I haven't been able to... I haven't really Reefed on it, but it doesn't appear to come off easily.

I'm not sure if you want to salvage the lanyard or not but I took out my trusty leatherman and cut it off.

I hear ya, the locking cap on my 2001 GT was like that, had to keep a little pressure on the key while turning the cap, I learned that the hard way at a gas station in just 10 long minutes. hahaha

So, what's the verdict? Can you use the lanyard? I have a bad habit of leaving gas caps behind if they're not tied down.
