supercharger differences
Hey all,
I have a 07 GT 5 speed, looking to upgrade to some more horse. Wondering what supercharger i should get, the one from Ford Racing that puts up 500 horse or a saleen at 400 horse? What do you recommend, are there consequences with going with a supercharger with so much horse? What ill effects can it have on the motor or the overall car? What about gas mileage, how will that be effected, and also, do you all recommend dealer installation, because frankly I only have experience with old cars and don't want to touch or screw up this brand new mustang
Thanks for the advice

I would go with a saleen S/C and limit the boost according to 475 RWHP max with a good dyno tune. These cars are really touchy when it comes to A/F ratio. Double check with Ford about warranty of the motor after install and any custom/pro shop with good credentials will be finebecause the factory will rape you on labor. JMO though and I hear many great things about the saleen S/C

FRPP(Whipple), Saleen, Kenne Bell, Vortech are all great blowers, I would reccomened you get one with an intercooler and have a respectable shop dyno tune it.
I hear the drivers get scared of their cars at first, hope that happens to you

Ditto with the Saleen.I installed mine at the end of OCT. I think it's the safest and easier to install of them all along with a known proven track record.I didn't go with any JDM hardware or tune.I did install 39 lb injectors,3.6 pulley and becausing I am using the WMSracing CAI I went with their 95mm MAF.Started out with a Brenspeed Saleen tune to get me going. Did not want to sendit out to Saleen for reflash.Ended up at a local SCT tuner on a Mustang dyno and ended up with a nice conservative middle of the road tune.Dyno'd at 427 rwhp and 404 torque.A/F ratio at a nice even flat 11.6 to 11.7 through out the rpm range.Pushing about 7.5 lbs of boost at 6200.For a DD street machine I don't think you can beat this setup for overall reliability and proformance. No matter who's SC you go with get it onadyno and check out the A/F ratio.Too lean and bad things can happen to your motor.Installed the Saleen in my 05 Black GT.

Not trying to jack the thread, but am contemplating your same set up Zoom. Have been out of the loop for a while but getting back into the swing now. How did you keep from pegging the maf? I was origionally told the WMS intake wouldn't work w/ saleen sc. Glad it does.

Hey gloryboy, you must use the 95 mm MAF tube. I originally had the 80mm MAF and yes it indeed did peg the MAF at 5.0v. So, had to order the new 95 MAF from wmsracing about $100.00 but that's what made all the difference tuning it.
