Default Question about engine

I just picked up my new Mustang GT yesterday and had a quick question. When I shift (or if I rev slightly when stopped), the engine will hold that rpm briefly after I'm off the gas, and then ease back down. Is this normal? I'm used to my motorcycle where the rpm drops as quickly as it revs.

My guess is that it's normal and it briefly holds the rpm because of the comparitively greater flywheel mass than my bike, but I wanted somebody to verify this before I get concerned.

Normal. From what I've picked up on this forum I think it also has something to do with the drive by wire system related to optimizing fuel consumption.

Yep, normal. The drive-by-wire system tries to make the smoothest transitions. That, and unlike a motorcycle, that's a big engine you just sent spinning around.

Seems to only happen in the 1-2.5x1000 range. Tease it a bit above that and it'll start jumping around nicely. :P

Thanks, guys. I figured it was normal, but it's something I'm not used to so I had to check.

A dyno tune can help greatly from what I am reading on this site. Lots of info on that! Very popular is the CAI with tune ... but go for the dyno tune and get it the way you want.
