Engine whine.

RE: Engine whine.
Yep. Happes about a third of the time. Haven't figured out what it is, yet. Happened to me when I first got the car, and I thought maybe it was the intake, but after a CAI (during which I checked through all the fittings I could see) I still have the problem, so it's maybe something else. Happens even when idle, so I know it's not a body issue (like a hood whistle or something).
The only thing I can think of is that either there's a leaf in my AC vents, or the radiator fans are making the noise. My money's on the radiator, though, since I get the noise even when the AC is off.
Dealer couldn't find anything, but they weren't able to replicate the issue when I last had it in. (Isn't that always the way?)

RE: Engine whine.
I have an update. If the car is warm, and I drive it easy for the first 5-10 minutes, then drive it hard, no engine whine.
If the car is warm, and I then drive it hard, I am more likely to get that whine.

I'll try the warm-up approach...but that won't always work. I'm like a quarter mile from all the main highways I use to get around...I'd have to drive around my block 20 times to "play nice" before I went anywhere! lol
