Default running to rich?

[:-]Just noticed my exhaust tips today, and noticed that they're really darkish black in the inside, and whenI rub my finger against it black substance gets on my fingers and it remains black on the exhaust. Seems like a heavy coat of it. Im useing Doug's 91 race tune. Might have to give him an email, dont wanna hurt my engine. But it could also be my o/r H pipe...what do you guys think?

Probably a little rich, but better rich than lean. You won't hurt it being a little rich. Most canned tunes are on the rich side for a safety margin.

My car does the same thing same with my 04 F150. I have no tunes on either one. But I guess it's okay, I bought my 05 Stang Gt used with 5k mikes from the dealership and there was black **** on the inside of the tips.

noo the dark residue is carbon and other by-products. When the engine is rich it is consuming more fuel than it needs, thus, it doesnt completely burn off all the additaves and carbon, and thats why there are deposits on your exhaust. Its fine, no problemo.

its cause your running an off-road mid-pipe and the catalic converters are there to rid the exhaust of what your seeing on your tips....i use purple power to clean mine off and they look brand new...
