Shaker Question
Here's a question.
People say that the Shaker intake doesn't make good performance because of the factory airbox being kept in the design. What if you have a CAI installed, though? Would that make the system perform better, or would there be no difference?

From what I've seen, the kit is designed to feed into a hole in the side of the factory airbox. Since I have a CAI, I'm assuming I'd have to do some modification. My CAI has a two-wall heat shield around the cone filter, so I'm guessing if I put a shaker in, I could probably get away with cutting a hole in the heat shield and adding a shot length of pipe or hose. Trouble is, unlike the airbox approach, it's not as closed a system. I could probably get some hose to connect the shaker pipe to the pipe of my CAI, but that would remove the filter....which is a no-no. Too bad. If I could get away without the filter, it'd almost be a forced-air system, with air coming into the shaker and traveling straight through into the TB.
I haven't tried to see if the factory airbox can accomodate the cone filter of my CAI. If so, I could replace the heat shields with the airbox, and problem solved.
I definately don't want to give up performance. If my current CAI runs better than a shaker setup, forget it!
