I know it seems crazy, but i would rather keep my 06 auto and convert it to a 6spd transmission, any information and how you would do this swap/parts or wiring needed?

Do you mean convert your auto into a 6-speed manual?

That costs about $5,000 when you start with a manual. Starting with an automatic would be much more expensive. You have to add the clutch pedal & hydraulics for starters.... it would probably be cheaper to sell your car and buy one with a manual, and then go from there.

whats the point?
The only thing I can see is "fun factor." The autos are quite fast, just like the manuals. This has been discussed many times. If your rich then go for it I guess, but if you can afford to do the switch then why not trade the auto in for a manual....your loss should be less than the swap?

You bought a auto, you are stuck with it.....

... it would be better/easier to just trade in that car and get a manual for the $$ u will spend in the conversion.

I will just wait intill the last of the 07s are selling cheaper and trade in for a manual.I like the automatics but manuals are more fun to drive...I like to drive up curvy roads, all the time i want to downshift and power out of a corner..you can do it to the automatic but not sure if i will shorten the life of the transmission.

Since the new Explorer V8 uses the same engine the GT, how about putting the 6sp auto trans from the Explorer in the GT?
