Default Clutch question

OK clutch experts. The clutch on the 07 GT is hydraulic without any way to adjust the point at which it engages, or so my dealer tells me. My son and I both have 07 GTs. Mine starts to engage about 1/4 off the floorboard while my son's doesn't start to engage until almost 2/3 off the floor. Why does a self adjusting system differ so much between two supposedly identical vehicles? Has anyone figured a way to adjust clutch pedal travel without dropping the trans and shimming the throwout bearing?
Any input will be appreciated.

Where does the clutch engage at when its brand new? Mine doesn't engage until about 3/4 of the way out. Thats how it has been since I have gotten the car.

I don't think bending the pedal is the answer. The point at which the clutch begins to engage is determined by what happens to what the pedal is connected to.
Back when clutches were all spring mechanical and adjustable, we always tried to get about 2 inches of free travel off the floor before starting to engage. That's about where my GT's clutch is now and that seems to be about right ( I took delivery Dec 1, 2006). The kid's GT has way more free travel off the floor (he took delivery Aug 2006) and always has. Anyway, unless the car is driven b***s to the wall and abused all the time (not the case for either of us) it doesn't seem possible to put enough wear on the clutch plate to account for such a large difference.
I'm stumped!
