squeaky dash problems
I have a similar problem, I think. It started after they repainter the drivers side rear quarter panel. If you look close you'll see that panel goes all the way over the window. So they had to take off the inside plastic panel. After that I started getting a rattle right where the A-pillar hits the top of the dash. While I'm driving if I poke my finger in there between the two parts, like a wedge, it will stop making that embarrassingly loud rattle.
I also get a infrequent dash rattle in the satin silver dash, I think from the center part.
I'm going to try to video tape the rattles because they can be hard to replicate. I know there's a fix for the satin silver part of the dash. I think it involves putting new double sided tape in there.

Every 'stang I've ever been in has had some rattle or squeak including my old '67 coupe, friend's '68 fastback, ex-roommate's '98 coupe, etc. and now my '06.
I think it's a factory install by Ford that comes stock with the Pony emblem.

Here is an update on my 06squeaking dash. I had the car at the dealership off and on for two weeks. They attempted to fix the the problem twice and failed. One the third attempt they finally isolated the problem. The squeaking was coming from where the dash attaches to the firewall. Apparently the dash was not attached to the gromments very well. That is why it was squeaking. I pick it up on a chilly morning and it was quiet as can be
. I told them two weeks ago that the dash would squeak regardless of whether the A piller trim panels were on or not, and it was the dash itself that was squeaking, not just the where the A piller and dash were coming together. If they would have listen tome in the first place it would not have taken two weeks to get done. I can see why people don't wish to take their car to a dealership, even under warranty. It is such a pain to deal with them sometimes. It's easier and less time consuming to just isolate and fix the problem yourself.
Anyway, thanks for all your imput.I'm so happy and relieved that it's fix or at least quiet down alot.

Mine had it too...
I just push down on the far right corner , at the base of the windshield...I push down on that corner real hard, and the squeak goes away for about 3 months...
BTW, im in a warm climate...

Ok, I know this has been brought up before. How many of you out there have had problems with there dash squeaking? I am so fed up with it now. It has squeaked from the first day i bought it. I have had it in to a Ford dealership four times. All they do it stuff the A piller and the dash with insulation and felt, which helps the problem for a few months, only to return later. Both sides of the dash make noise. It happens more when the dash is cool. Once it hits the sun, it quiets up. If i drive all day in 50 degree weather and its cloudy, it will make noise all day. I believe most of noise is coming from where the A piller plastic covers join the dash. I'm having the car look out this Monday and i 'm giving them two options:
1.) Replace the dash or console or
2.) buy the lemon back from me.
I can't believe it has to come down to this, over a stupid noisy dash. I didn't pay $26000 for my car to sound like a 30 year oldford escort.

You want them to buy back the car because your dash rattles? That's insane!!!!!!!
If anyone really wants to fix dash rattles this is what you do. Take all the plastic pieces apart, place sticky felt or double sided tape on all the places the pieces of plastic meet. The rattle is caused by the plastic panels hitting each other.
Don't rely on the dealer. This isn't a $50k luxury sedan that is sound proof.

Hell yeah i would! i don't care if its a Focus or a Lincoln. I won't put up with excessive interior noise. Lucky for me on the fifth try the dealship finally found the primary cause of the problem. The dealship told me that the dash was not attached securely to the firewall. That's why it squeaks so bad. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of a little squeak, a little rattle here. My car was really bad. Insulating the dash was not fixing the problem,so i kept pushing them to find the problem. I'm just letting others know where to look if they have excessive squeaking. I fought over this issue with the Ford dealership for a year and half until finally they fix it.
