Midpipe question?
I had a shop recommend putting a Bassani X pipe in with high flow cats (along with some other work). Well actualy they suggested without cats and said they would fix the tuner so it wouldn't throw a light and I would pass inspection. I told them I was the guy that would get caught for sure! Anyway I'm just wondering how much Hp I could pick up with this X-pipe and high flow cats? They quoted $500 installed, is that a good price? How loud will this be with my Magnaflow cat backs?
If anybody has a similar setup and can give me some advice I'd appreciate it!
I only ask about the sound as the guy told me the off road X pipe was insanely load with magnaflows!

It all depends on where you live, I have no experience with your parts or any on this car really but I wouldnt remove the cats and expect to stay legal. $500 seems like alot for a mid pipe install but it is basani and as I understand it they are some of the best. How much do they want for the pipe itself? Might beable to get a better price off of the net.
With a catted x pipe you are not going to be picking up that much...the gains really come from removing the cats...as for cost....pypes h-pipe for 170 and install was free for me. I dont really care about the 2 HP more I would have got with an x pipe, the sound is amazing though!
I probably wasn't to clear. The $500 price is for the pipe and the installation complete. The x-pipe would be WITH the high flow cats for that price.
Polution control here in Texas is a problem. Going without the cats would definetly be a violation.I think the guy was alluding to the fact that I could get away with it because the car was new and they wouldn't actualy check the exhaust as long as it didn't throw a light. However, I'm not really interested in pressing my luck in that way. Besides how much HP could the high flow cats cost me compared to cat deletes, I do not believe it's worth it.

They check it thru the computer port here so they dont look usually takes about 5 min total but.....
Maybe that's what the guy was trying to tell me. With my luck I'd get the guy that wants to crawl under the car and look. LOL
