Default adaptive driving

is there anyway to get rid of the frickin adaptive accelerator? I hate that system... I drove to Waco, used cruise the whole way... When i attempted to drop to 4th, i tried to rev-match it... and i almost had to floor it... The stupid computer went into super economy mode from using the cruise control... So is there any way, other than resetting the cpu via unhooked battery, or the gas pedal trick ( which i still think is just in your head), to turn it off? Oh i dont have a tuner also...

Your problem appears to be either throttle lag, or hesitation caused by a defective fuel pump. The former can onlybe eliminated withatuner, and the latter can be eliminated by swapping out the fuel pump(There's a TSB on the fuel pump problem, and the dealer will do the replacement under warranty).
Adaptive learning by the ECU, on the other hand, cannot be eliminated, either with a tuner, by disconnecting the battery, or by the gas pedal trick. Those procedures only wipe cleanthe adaptive long term values that are stored in the ECU's memory so that it can start again from scratch.

i wouldn't say throttle lag... cause i dont really have any of that to start with... and it only did it while i was traveling down the road at 60-70 mph... I pushed in the clutch, pressed the gas... but didnt hear the engine rev up... So i had to push it a lot more... almost 1/2 way down just to get the rpm's to jump up... it was just the computer setting the accelerator in a really economic mode... When i stopped for gas... i did the pedal trick and it seemed to help... so i would like to rid myself of it forever! I hate getting into my car and having it drive differently every frickin day... No way eh?

I know how you feel. Sometimes I have to give lots of throttle to do little.

I asked Brent about this a few months back and his reply was that his tune eliminated the 'adaptive learning' and therefore did not require a periodic reload. <shrug>

I am always interested in proof to the contrary
