Default Daytime running lights.

I was wondering is there a way to convert the standard light switch to daytime running lights? How about automatic lights when it gets dark? My previous car had both and on ocasion I forget to turn on my headlights.

I figured I would ask you guys.

unless you custom wired it yourself, or had a shop do it (lots of $$$) I dont think you can.
My perception is that if you got a sensor mounted in your defrost grille, that activated (sent power) at a certain degree or amount light, and then ran that to your headlight switch wiring, that it would work.

The daytime running lights are required in Canada (hence why we have a light in the dash for them) but I'd be willing to bet in the US, the cars do not have the parts installed. It would probably be pretty expensive.

I have an 07 with no DRL and couldn't be happier. I hate DRL's, they're a useless waste of power. If I want my headlights on I turn them on myself. I don't need them running all the time.

Exactly how I feel about them. My wife's Grand Prix GT has DRL's and auto lights, and I can't stand them for the same reasons.

You can get a universal kit from any autoparts for around 45. dollars. I installed one on my motorhome when I brought it back to Canada from thE US. Really simple to do.

The DRL isprogrammed into the smart relay module on Canadian cars. No extra parts are required.US customers that have had the Wet Module Syndrome and have had the module replaced have gotten the canadian program in error before and had to be reprogrammed. The problem is I believe you lose the actual driving light functionality.

If you take it to the dealer they can do it for you. There have been instances in the US that someone took in their stang for a fix of something else and came out with DRL's. I would hate it if my stang had it!
