Default update!!

on my cams i already bought and have them....turns out the guy who would install my cams wants me to buy 4.10 gears and also a torque converter as well....with that money plus the installation fees were talkin at least another $2,000....plus he would throw in a free tune....is this worth it?

It's only worth it if it's worth it to you, me personally? With all that money your spending on cams and gears yada yada yada, I'd have Blown it and been done with it. But again what's great about our cars and this sport, if it floats your boat noone elses opinion matters

Good Luck

Just because he wants you too doesnt mean you have too. Torque converter/ that means automatic tranny which wouldbe a better match to 3.73 gears. If you already have the cams you may as well get them installed. What do you want out of your car? Are you racing? or is this a DD. Not sure a TC is really needed in your case but w/o knowing what you currenty have or plan on doing it's hard to answer your question.

I still say resell the cams, hell return them if you can, and just do the gears and see how you like that...then go from there.

The installs for the cams and gears are completely different so its no like you would be saving on labor or anything.

Gohan785 - It is usually necessay to install lower gears when going with Stage 3 cams. The torque converter will also improve your launches. But keep in mind that you will also need a larger CAI, throttlebody, and cmdps to feed those camshafts. After that, a full exhaust with lt headers and offroad x or h pipe will be needed to provide for a better flowing exhaust.

vack75 - He pretty much ruled out FI when he ordered Stage 3 cams. But he will have spent less than going FI when he is done. There is something to an all-motor sports car.

+1 do some 3.73s and lose the cams; if you're hell-bent on them save up for heads+cams...
