I finally had time to put the flowmasters in the dumpster. The stock mufflers w/ Xpipe sound much better.
Any suggestions on a GOOD sounding muffler x/ off road X pipe?

 

you should have ripped off that x-pipe with those flowmaster's.imho............you might want to check out that new exhaust thread,,lots of vids on there of what you might be looking for

 

Corsa make an awesome set of mufflers...

 

theres a ton of combinations out there
axelbacks, catted X or H, o/r X or H, shorty headers, LT headers, etc
hard to find the right tone for each person

I have LT's with O/R X pype and borla stingers and yeah they´re quite raspy

you really hated them that much? I like the way mine sound; I had a 90 GT with flowmaster two-chambers and an o/r H and it sounded just about the same...

 

yeah i liked mine too,,probably the best ive done on this car,, and ive done jba's, with an h and x...stocks with an h and x, pypes with a stock h,,,and slp's "which i hated, sounded like my f*cking model t" ...now i think im gonna try bassani ..."i get bored with sound very easy".....

the old 5.0 wasn't as raspy or high-pitched. similar tone, but overall it doesn't sound the same IMO.

the Flows sound pretty good on the outside but inside the car, they sound like a machine gun going off in a metal trash can at WOT. it's not pretty to me, which is why I switched them out for the FRPP GTA chambered mufflers which produce a much smoother tone and still scream at WOT without the cats.

 

I have Longtubes header with X pipe and pypes midmuffler system.Awesome sound and no drone at all.I think its best sound system for the S197 Mustang.
