Default BBK 1736 - Cold Air Induction Question

Ok I read and read about all this tune stuff and still don't know for sure if I need a tune with my bbk 1736 CAI.
I have a 07 GT 5/speed with the BBK 1736 and flowmasters is my only mods.
I'm from the old school so I don't much about this.
Anyone else running the bbk CAI?
I'm not after every bit of power I can get but just to perform a little better.
Also with all the reading I still don't know where's the best place to get a SCT with tunes or just the SCT.
Thanks
Woody

I had the BBK cai with no tune for a week. I did not notice any power gains at all,it felt worse to me. I called Brenspeed and ordered SCT tuner, What a difference a tune makes. Really woke my car up and on automatics it really makes a difference.

I've heard that the K&N is good and doesn't require a tune, some have it and like it, I did some research on it...seems like they claim 15+ HP but Dynos say 10-13...don't have one so I can't say for sure about the gains.
Anyone care to "chime in" if you have one?

A CAI without a tune IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY.....GMS intake with a recalibrated MAF is the only NO TUNE CAI that i would think of running. To get more HP you have to bring in more air.....if you bring in more air you need more fuel....the stock tune does not bring the fuel up to the same amount as air, therefore you are leaning out your A/F. This is not advised

Ok, let me make this straight. BBK designed their CAI so itdoesn't require a tune. You can buy a tuner and have it tuned with the BBK CAI, but it won't throw any codes and go into limp mode if you don't have it tuned. That is what they mean by that. You can't throw any CAI on your car out of the box and expect to get the gains that Brent does with his tunes & cai combos. And I know that BBK says that they gained all this and that without the tune (just the cai and headers I believe that it was, can't remember for sure at the moment), but to really make it perform I suggest getting a tuner with it.

But, as you said you weren't after all the power, so as a true 'bolt-on & go' I would highly suggest the BBK.

I think C&L makes an intake that doesn't require a tune as well. Just throwing that out there in case you want to do more research!

I bought brenspeeds BBK package, CAIand tuner and I really liked how the car ran. I probably wouldn't have been that happy if it was just the CAI. (

Thanks everyone and I wrote brenspeed about the tunes.
Looks like I'll get the Xcal II from them.
