Default S/C life expectancy?

Greetings!

I am considering the installation of an FRPP/Whipple S/C and wonder about the life expectancy of the S/C? I realize that covers a broad amount of territory. Can anyone hazard a guess or reference documentation on the subject?

Thank you,
jerry

Well they dont recommend changing the s/c oil till 100,000 miles so I would think at least double that.

Your engine will crap out before the s/c I would think. I would suggest putting in a catch can on the PCV though to stop blow by.

i'll hazard a guess....

i'd say somewhere between 150,000 and 250,000,
your unit may have to be refurbished.

i've seen places in CA that specialize in rebuilding
s/c's. heck, you could probably even send it to it's
birthplace in fresno, if that's your desire.

Yeah, I ain't to worried about the supercharger crapping out. By the time I need a refurb this car will be a weekend warrior so it won't be a big deal. I'd be interested to know what whipple would charge for a refurb and if they put in all new screws/gears/etc.

That is something I considered when shopping. I can't really afford to replace a supercharger every 4 years, but I can afford to have it rebuilt every 10.

I wonder if whipple will sell me a rebuild kit. I'd be willing to give it a go.
