Default Engine knock..

So here's the deal....Driving home tonight, in 2nd and stomp on it up a hill...the engine knocks. Now I'm down to a 1/4 of a tank of gas and there was no knocking during the first 3/4....Bad gas ya think? Never had a car that knocked unless it was really old...I have no mods absent some mufflers so it isn't a bad tune.

i would say fill up the tank and take
another run up that hill....

if it still pings, then you might try higher
octane or a different gas supplier

Maybe the fuel pump TSB as well. Either the fuel pump is not getting the gas in the tank or the pump isn't working properly and getting the gas to the motor. JMO but.....hope it helps

Try adding Lucas fuel injector cleaner lubricant or Marvel Mystery Oil to a full tank of gas. You may want to try a different gas station as well just in case they have water in the tank.

+1 on trying different brands of gas. But before using higher octane gas, suggest trying a can of Seafoam. It got rid of my pinging problem.

It saids in the manual it is normal to hear pinging sometimes it's when you drive it constantly when it should be a concern. Look in your manual I'm to lazy to look it up.

Kenne Bell literature indicates that you should treat 1/4 of a tank as empty:

Look on page 10, "FUEL LEVEL".

Same here. I had pinging everytime I floored it. After I determined it wasn'ta tune issue, I tried the Seafoam and I haven't had pinging since.

Techron is the ONLY recommended gas additive.
