Default Engine ticking.....

Ok, the past couple of days i've been noticing a ticking coming from the engine, so today I open up the hood and listen around and it sounds like its coming from either the injectors, intake manifold, or maybe underneath the manifold from the lifters and can't tell which one. I have about 8000 miles on itanda C&L intake and a brenspeed 87 tune right now because when I'm at 89 or 91 tune the ticking gets worse and more pernounced at WOT or even at semi-hard acceleration. I put fuel injector cleaner in and ran about half a tank but the ticking is still there. SoI was just wondering if anyone else had this tick coming from that area and should I take it in the ford and have it checked out so it doesn't screw anything up. I wouldn't be so concerned with this but it sounds like crap when underacceleration.

If you can hear it under acceleration then it's pinging and you should either get a new tune or try a higher octane gas. The injectors on these cars do tick, but it's not audible from inside the car.

Try the 89 tune with 91 gas.

Yeah I've tried that. I've tried different gas stations and running 91 gas with a 87 tune still does it.

i would add.....it may be time to return your

the dealership diagnose and fix this....

Well, I emailed brenspeed to get a new tune, but I returned the car to stock and for some reason it still doing it and sounds even worse at idle and under acceleration. I'm not sure if the tune was the problem now.

Ok thanks for the replies I'll probably just go back to stock and take it in to the dealership.

+2 on what moose said, that's not a tick that's a ping, which could be fould be a boom.
