turning it off doesn't add power, it just keeps the computer from applying the brakes and cutting throttle when you start to slip.

Youve heard right then. Having the TC on while at the strip is a bad idea because the computer system senses any tire slippage and it will slow the engine down. Same thing in snow or rain. If your tire slips with TC on, the engine wont put out MORE power itll put out less.

If I leave TCS on and punch it my car drags really bad and doesn't shift right at all. Did not have this problem until after the SC so I always shut it off unless the ground is wet.

I don't take my Stang to the track but Ido turn theTCS off if I'm feeling aggressive and conditions permit. It gives me a better "feel" of the car and road.

Applying the brakes?
sorry, i was thinking stability control... do our cars even have that? i've never even checked... i know when i was looking at the 350Z it had some kind of Vehicle Dynamic Control. at least that's what think it was called.

I'm pretty sure the TCS will apply the rear breaks if it needs to, to stop wheel spin. It probably uses the ABS system. I know that it will cut the throttle.

No, our cars do not have stability control.

Turning off the TCS will not add any power, increase throttle response, or enhance enginer performance in any way. The only thing it will do is prevent the computer from cutting the throttle and applying the breaks to stop wheel spin.
