Default Do I need a programmer????

I have a 2005 GT. Last summer I installed a Zex kit and I ran with a 125 shot. This summer I want to run with a 175 shot. My mechanic said I would need a SCT programmer to make it easier on my engine. At over $400 I want to make sure that it will do the job.
Thanks.

I would buy a programmer of some kind. It allows you to talk to your car in allot of differant ways. I have a Diablo allot of people on this forum like SCT, it's up to you. Do you need one for what you want to do, I'm not sure, but they are fun to have. http://www.autoanything.com/performa...0A50722A1.aspxis a good place to start.

+1 to what Finally got one said. I couldn't tell you for sure that you need one with that mod. But it is probably the most valuable thing I have purchased for this car and you can't beat the price for what you get in a handheld tuner.

I wouldn't be running a 125shot on the stock tune much less a 175shot. Get a tuner, even the Diablosport tuner has a canned tune for Nitrous.

Yes the plugs have been changed and I spoke to a reliable source that told me that if ZEX offers up to 175hp it's because the engine can take it. I just want to know if the SCT will make it easier on the engine.

Most shops are like crack dealers, they don't do whats good for you, they do whats good for them....

Tuning---absolutely. You NEED to remove timing to keep out of trouble.

If your were to purchase and use the SCT it would help your engine very much. You could also keep an eye on ebay and buy a used one as they are readily available. Look for any of the brands any would be better than none. I have a diablosport and do like it but SCT is also very good. Hypertech is over rated but not bad overall.
