Vortech Question

Vortech Question
I've been looking into purchasing a Vortech Supercharger for my 05' Gt (Auto) and im on somewhat of a limited budget...i've found a polished Vortech kit without the aftercooler for 3800.00 and a polished kit with the aftercooler for 4800.00 My dad owns an Automotive Performance shop so i won't have to pay anything in labor/time etc.
My question is...is the extra grand for the aftercooler really worth it??? I've done some research and it seems like the people without the aftercooler are getting around the same amount of rwhp compared to the guys with the aftercooler.
Thanks

RE: Vortech Question
If you want more power down the line I would get the aftercooler. I'm pretty sure the most boost you can safely run without the aftercooler is 8psi. If you can afford it right now just get the aftercooler. If not, it would be really easy to add one later you could even get the paxton air/air cooler which is what people seem to prefer over the air/water aftercooler from vortech.

RE: Vortech Question
the aftercooler allows you to run about 2-3 lbs of boost more than the non-ic set up. it also provides lower IATs which is safer for you motor. Especially if you in a hot climate. Will also give you better power sustainablity in hot weather.
when i did mine i calculated the added potental power per $ and iirc those added HP were "cheaper" than the first 120 or so that the non ic kit adds on its own.

RE: Vortech Question
I've asked a similar question before regarding the aftercooler setup. I was told that you cannot run more than 350-360hp with the nonintercooled setup. I don't know why.
I'm curious, I live in Phoenix where it gets hot as hell in the summer... is the nonintercooled version a **** poor idea or what?
Thanks

RE: Vortech Question
I would say it depends on your HP goals. If you can live with 425HP or less then non IC should be ok. If you plan on running up towards 500HP or more then get the IC. The IC will only allow you to run more boost and more timing without running race gas. If you run race gas or meth injection you can run more boost and or timingwithout the IC. The IC is a good way to avoid having to run race gas or meth injection while pushing more boost. You should be able to get a better price then that on those blowers. I would look for 3600 on the non IC and 4400 for the intercooled. I paid 4200 for my Paxton 2200 HO Kit. Good luck.

spend the additional money up front and do it right from the start....you'll be glad that you did

RE: Vortech Question
thanks guys! i appreciate all the words of wisdom...i think that i am going to just increase my budget and purchase the right thing..instead halfway doin it. I found a Paxton 2200 HO Kit with an air-to-air intercooler for 4,095.00 seems like a pretty good deal to me.
