Default remote start - what additional 'modules' are needed?

hi
I'm seriously considering getting the new Viper 5701 security/remote start system for my '05 GT. (it's a manual shift, but should work safely - the 5701 is manual compatible, won't remote start unless you leave the car in neutral with e-brake on, and do specific button presses on exit)

Anyway, the thing that's confusing me is all the different additional 'modules' I've come across that are supposedly needed. I know I need at least one of these to bypass the stock PATS immobilizer/security system. But which one? or do I need several of these in addition to the 5701 itself?
- Immobilizer Bypass XK04
- DEI interface 556U
- databus interface 1100F

and is any separate module required to make the trunk open button work?

any advice much appreicated.
thanks much!

You only need one module to bypass the PATS system. The XK04 and 1100F are the same. The 1100F needs a firmware update to the XK04 to work on our cars. I had the 1100F but could never get it to work right because of the firmware. I also had the 555S but couldn't get it to learn my key codes. I highly recommend the 556SW. It costs a little more than the rest but is well worth it. Plus it is really easy to install and program. Let me know if you need anymore help. I'm not familiar with the Viper system but no additional modules should be needed to control the trunk or other devices. Now there are modules if you want to remotley roll up/down your windows or stuff like that but most of the things you will want should be built into the viper.

thanks a lot for the info. That's very helpful.
I'll check out the 556SW for sure, and see how it goes.

cheers!

When did remote start become available for manual transmission vehicles in general? Is this a recent thing, or have I been in my cave too long?

Remote starts on manuals have been around for at least 10 years... but they key is to remember to leave it out of gear, which puts extra wear/tear on your e-brake.....

my question though, if its cold enough to warrant remote start, shouldn't the stang stay parked?!

you mean hot enough right? remote start comes in handy when it's 110 degrees outside so you can start the A/C with melting the backs of your legs to the leather. i never leave my car in gear... always use the e-brake...

i had no idea these systems worked on manuals, though. how does it press the clutch in to start the car???

sorry... living in the north i think of remote start to warm the car up... I always use a sunshade when my car is parked in the summertime... cuts down on the burnt legs and also helps to protect the dash and leather...

i use a sunshade too, it still gets hot as hell in there. one time last summer the car was positioned where the sun was directly on the metal part of my seatbelt; i grabbed it and didn't realize how hot it was until i had a red print of the metal piece on the palm of my hand for the next 2 weeks [:@]
