93 tune dumb question?
I purchased and installed C&L's "racer" CAI along with their matching tune on the Diablo Predator. I noticed decent improvements over the stock setup, but not as much as I anticipated. My question is, since their tune is a 93 octance, and the highest I can get around here is 91, would that be enough to give me these not impressive results? Do I need to go buy octane booster or how does this work with a 93 tune on 91 gas?
I wouldnt run the 91 octane on the 93 tune period but its your car. Your best bet is to get custom tunes from Bamachips, he uses predator brenspeed does not AFAIK.
93 tune with 91 octane is very bad for your motor. That can cause detonation which will damage your motor.
You'd be better off running an 87 tune on 91 octane fuel. I'm sure octane booster can remedy the problem,
but that can get expensive. I've never used it, so I'll let the experts chime in for this one.
If it were me, I'd unload that tune pronto and load a lower octane tune. If the Predator didn't come with
one, I'd order a tune from Bama, (Brenspeed doesn't support the Diablo) and I'm not sure about VMP.

I agree with the others. First off definitly don't run 91 octane with a 93 tune. Also a custom tune from a bama or VMP that works with 91 would be ALOT better than even the diablosport canned 93 tune
you'll defintely want to get your car tuned for 91 octane because the detonation can really damage the engine. also, getting it tuned by doug at bamachips will give you the results your most likely looking for
on my car, i use 87 and 91 tunes since those are the octanes most readily available. and if you keep putting a 91 in a 93 tune you'll eventually hear some knocking which is very bad.

Thanks guys for all the advice. The canned tune from C&L was to match their intake and i cant run the canned 91 octane tune as it wont support the CAI. They did have me adjust the tune for "better results" and it appears that adjustment was dropping the timing a little. How much does a Bama tune run and I need to order the cable for my tuner to computer or can I buy something that works at a local computer store?
