Normal idle?
I just got a 2005 Mustang GT and i was noticing at a cold idle it jumps up a lil past 1k then down to 600, and it does this every 15 seconds or so. Then as it gets hotter this problem gets lets worse and evetentually after running for 15 minutes it stops and it idles normally at about 800rpms. Is this normal for everyones? Or should I have it checked. It still has about 500 miles on used dealer warrenty heh
Still not normal.....from a cold start to have the rpms jump to say 1200-1500 RPMs and slowly come down to normal idle is fine but the jumping idle while warming up is NOT normal. Do you have a CAI/tune (aftermarket) installed....if so you should have a tuner for it and you can adj those parameters with the handheld tuner. If not take it to the dealer and have them address the issue... as it is under warranty.....do it soon though or take it to a custom dyno tuning shop and have them look at it if they are well versed on the S197 modular motors

Not normal. It should jump up initially and then slowly idle down to 750rpms. Mine idles like a swiss watch.
you probably just need to clean the throttle body and MAF sensor. Ford will probably replace the trottle body under warranty.

It's only got 15k miles on it, also today I was driving and was crusing at about 20mph I popped it out of gear(Without using the clutch) and the rpms stayed at 2k and it was like the car was giving itself gas. It didnt come down from 2k until i stopped moving. Should I reflash and unplug my batt for an hour?
If you disconnect the battery, do the adaptive learning procedure as
outlined in the owners manual.
Its under BATTERY.
