Default Question on Non IC vortech install.

Ok so first day I got all the way until we're were about to install the super charger mounting plate. Everything is going great except I was wondering if any one else thats done this thought that the relocation for the power steering fluid resovoir was a little hard to do? It just seemed like it was forcing it into the place they wanted me to put it. Also its says to run the new hoses from the new power steering resivoir spot to the factory hoses and it says to run them along the fansheild. The way I did it was I literally when strait over the fan shield and I thought that I might have not done it right. Can any one that knows about this tell me where your are supposed to run the hoses or why I might of thought the relocation of the power steering resevoir was hard?

I didnt do my install, however, there is a tube that runs in a little troff above the fan sheild on my ride.

you can see it in this pic between the rad cover and the sheild

Thats not the tube i'm talking about but if you look right next to your wind sheild wiper fluid refill resovoir you'll see the power steering fluid resovior where it was relocated. there are two hoses one larger then the other that run from the bottom of the resovoir to the drivers side of the car. If you could look and tell me how they routed those hoses that would be the greatest help ever.

hey stkjock, do you have any pics of the engine
side of the radiator? i think the OP wants to see
if the power steering lines really do get cable
tied right to the fan shroud, or if someone found
another way.....

Ok so I figured out the lines and everything is installed, but. I started it up for the first time, started up find, but there is a funny noise coming from what sounds like the S/Cer, and its not the whining that I knew would be there. I mean the whining is there but there is also a little noise that sounds almost like a shock going off inside the S/Cer. Are you supposed to put oil in the S/Cer b4 you start it up for the first time. Or maybe I didn't put enough oil into my engine. I put six courts like the owner manual says. Do I put more in now that I have another part that using oil? I'm not driving it until I know whats going on. How much power steering fluid is our car supposed to take after you drain it completely?

I asked the shop when I picked up my car about adding extra oil and they told me it wasnt necessary. the line and the S/C use very little. I've always put a bit over 6 in mine so the dip stick shows in the middle of the full zone.

idk about adding oil to the S/C first... but if you let it run for more than 30 seconds I'd think it would be all lubed

"sounds almost like a shock going off inside the S/Cer" - not understanding this phrase

the S/Cs do make noise - its a mechanical device after all

As for the power steering - check the owners manual in the fluids capicity section.. should be there

The sounds sounds like there is somthing going on in the S/Cer thats not supposed to be. Like a little rattle or something. But what I was saying, "sound almost like a shock going off inside the S/Cer". I mean like a real small shock of electricity, like a little zapping sound.
