Default Another cam question.

I am looking to install cams on my stang after i get all the basic bolt ons and basically im comparing the specs on one meant for a blower and just regular and they are very similar. The only difference as far as i can see is one degree less lobe separation on the ones not meant for a blower. The valve lift is the same. And the duration is just 4 less on the exhaust. The intake is the same. I dont know all the details about cams but my question is Is this small difference enough for them to not work once a supercharger is installed or will they still work well. The specific two im comparing is the Comp Cams Stage 3 XFI SPR and the Comp Cams Stage 2 Blower XFI SPR

I dont know full details but they make different sets for a reason. if you put a n/a set in then you might not get any gains and may even lose some when you go FI i think.

I thought if you put a N/A set on it wouldnt work with F/I and if you put blower cams on it will work fine with out the F/I

It "works" no matter what.....it just comes down to the gains you will get i believe

I'm pretty sure if you go with PSR cams your going to see pretty significant gains. You can use blower cams on a N/A stang which is a good thing if you intend on going FI later on. I would say *** it on the cams if your not S/Ced yet cause you'll end up spending almost as much on the cams with parts and labor as you would for a vortech tuner kit. Might as well go F/I and see over a 100+ rwhp gain then PSR cams that might get you 50 rwhp.

I would also get everything done at once cause you will need tuning for each also, dont want to have to pay for that twice

i wou;d do it at the same time or cams after blower. blower cams or n/a cams will work regardless of the setup but they just work BETTER with their intended usuage. blower cams will tend (and do say tend i am know cam specialist) to have a higher exhaust duration becuase of the air forced in by blower and i higher LSA so there is no air flowing straight through the engine and not being burned resulting in wasted air and inefficiency

Right, I would do it all at the same time but I have a some gaps in days of when I could get the cams installed and when the aftercooler is coming in from vortech. The plan is that they cams will be done by thursday and I will drive the 25 miles back home without getting on it (write up for cams says no tuning required, but who can believe that) Then that weekend I'm installing the aftercooler due to a planed shipping date. Them on the 13th I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Its a 20 mile drive to the tuner and is strongly advised to reflash after adding the aftercooler to the vortech system. Do you guys think it will be ok to drive it the 20 miles as long as I'm careful, or should I get an email tune to play it safe? Or should I get it towed to the tuner?
