Default The $6000.00 question

I just bought a 06 Mustang GT Mt and want more horsepower, I am debating a supercharger but am kinda turned off by the fact you have to go WOT to take advantage of all that extra juice. What else could I do besides forced induction to get me in some extra power. I would like to get between 100- 150 more horsepower range. I do not track my car just want to make it faster on the street, red light to red light. Any suggestions along with the cost would be appreciated. .
Thanks

I have a supercharger and I don't need to be even close to WOT to feel the extra power.

+1 I get some boost at heavier part throttle, IE like when I want to accelerate at a fair pace.

I would look into a twin screw.

If not if will cost you more money for less power but you could do:

Heads (Look into new C&L)
Intake
Cam
298 stroker
4.10 - 4.30 gears

Might be able to get in the high 300's rwhp.

In the end a TS is the easiest way to go. Feels like a big block when you drive around.

Must agree with the blower for greatest gain, and all in a single mod to boot. I've spent ten thousand in extra parts and I've added half the extra ponies of only adding a twinscrew. Nitrous kits are a lot cheaper and they too will wake your ponycar up right nicely in a single mod.

+1 on what everyone else is saying, supercharger....and since you are looking for something to go red light to red light, I think you would be a candidate for either a Whipple or a Kenne Bell. Cost would depend on several factors...which supercharger, who would install it, etc...

You do get extra power without having to go WOT. Since the S/C is constantly going due to being belt driven, air is still being shoved in at a greater rate than the vaccuum of an N/A motor. Any excess air, or actually the psi generated, is vented out. Throttle response and general get up and go is improved tremendously. And like others say, I too, feel some bigger ***** from the little 281 without having to smash the gas.
If you dont want to do the S/C route but want an extra 100-150, you will spend just as much on H/C/I and gears to get that much of a power boost. I spent less than $5000 on a complete ProCharger kit and 12 hrs of my time putting it in. Alot less hassle than H/C/I.

I started with a set of Stingers for $450 or so which I knew I was not going to get any hp from. I then bought the CAI/Tuner for about another $600 and liked it, but I wanted more. I then got gears+install for about $500 and it still wasn't enough. I then got the TC + install for about $1300 and still wanted to go faster. I ordered a nitrous kit and some accesories for close to $700 and then realized that I had just spent over half of what the supercharger would have cost me! So I ordered one. Save yourself a headache and just get a blower now, because you will want more and more!!
