Question Should I use Regular Unleaded or Premium gas

I got a stock 05 mustang gt automatic. I plan in the next 3 months on getting Ford Racing Headers, Corsa Extreme exhaust kit w/ X pipe, K&N CAI, and a Hypertech Max Energy Programmer. Im gonna get all the mods installed at the same time, but I dont know if I should Run regular unleaded gas or Premium gas?

All modded as you explain = Premium
Stock GT = regular

I recommend using premium. More bang that way.

You'll get no benefit from a higher octane unless you're tuned for it. The PCM with the stock 87 tune can't compensate for the higher octane.

Brenspeed or Bama can easily top the 13 HP performance gains shown on Hypertechs own website.

I've never even heard of this company. Go w/ a tuner like SCT or Diablo since they have real support in the s197 aftermarket.

Go with a sct tuner because you will have more support with it. As for the octane of gas, use 87 untill about a week or two before you get modded, then go with 93 and get it tuned as such. If you put in 93 with the stock tune then you are just throwing $ away because the extra octane is not being used.

+1...you will find the most support for SCT and Diablo. Check out sites like Brenspeed on CAI/Tuner combos. You will find a ton of information on such on this forum.

Gas is cheap. Go with the premium for more power.

No point in running premium until the last or maybe last two fills before you do the mods that actually require premium. That should be enough to get the proportion of regular in your tank down to where it won't matter before you start running that modded engine, but until that time it's no better than wasted $ for your current engine.
