Default Hurst Problem...maybe? Any input?

I just installed my hurst shifter today. I love how easy it shifts, however, there is so much play left to right when it is in gear. Is this normal? I guess I am used to the stock shifter being in gear and not moving side to side. Can anyone give me some input on this? And if this is normal, is there anyway to eliminate that?

Less play than stock for me too, and as far as loving the hurst I wish I could find the stock one to put it back in........;-)

Just out of habit, when I start my car, or in idle, I will move the shifter back and forth to make sure it is out of gear so I can take my foot off of the clutch. That is the same amount of play i have in my hurst when it is IN gear. Did I miss some adjustment?

it has play in it man. it kinda has to. no worries though you wont mess anything up. just enjoy those short throws and that classic look. old timers and old school mustang guys will appreciate the look. i have people all the time say how much they love mine.

OP does the shifter rattle when your RPM is over 3-4000?
