Default Spark Plugs??

I have a 2005 GT Vert that has the factory plugs. I have been reading about the possible difficulty in removing the factory plugs. I would appreciate anyones experience or knowledge some "dos & don'ts" when I undertake this project. Would also appreciate anyones advice on which brand of plug to put back in. Current mods are CAI, UDP, MRT H Pipe, Flowmaster exhaust, SCT X2Tune (302 HP & 322 torque). Thanks

Do a search for spark plug removal TSB on this or other forums,
as for plugs I use Champion 7989, I got 1 bad plug to begin with,
after replacing been running fine for 10k, other people have had
both good and bad luck with them. Some people just remove and
clean originals every 5-10k and re-anti-sieze according to TSB.
Most have had few problem getting them out with less than 20k
on motor, above that its a crap shoot.

Make sure the engine is cold before trying to remove them. I would soak with PB Blaster overnight. It also takes a 9/16 spark plug socket to get it off in case you did not know. Kind of a different size for a spark plug. I used autolite HT1 on my N/A engine and HTO since becoming supercharged.

Default Plugs

I installed the Champions after breaking one plug off (following TSB to the letter), and the dealer broke off 5 more. I have had the Champions installed for over 14,000 trouble free miles and she still runs great. Whatever you install, coat the smooth "barrel" below the threads with nickel anti-seize (keep it off the threads AND off the firing end of the plug). The only one piece plugs for our engines are the Champion #7989 or a plug made by Brisk. The Champs are double platinum and should go as much as 100,000 miles while the Brisk (a racing plug) will probably go 20,000 or 25,000 miles. Good luck. Read the TSB. http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricant.../tsb/06152.pdf

Ive got a set of the champions still on the shelf...103 bucks and the ones I got are junky- ones not threaded all the way, 5 are bent/platinum tips off center...

NGK is supposedly working on a quality one piece plug- I'll just wait for those, carefully neverseize the old ones occasionally till then...

Most will tell you to change them asap due to the TSB. I had mine changed at 79K. I had Autolite HT-1 plugs installed. Working just fine.
