Default TB question

hey i have a BBK TB installed... Its not in safe mode, however, whenever the rpms get higher...they tend to STAY higher... For example if i'm at 4k rpm, then the car will stay at that rpm regardless if im on the brake, in neutral, or anything. this obviously isnt good... so how do i stop it would i need to maybe rotate the spring? take off the TPS and wiggle the plates a little? grease it? Because it sounds like it just stays open or is sluggish in closing... anybody know what i can do? I cant re use the original TB, the original bolts that hold the TPS in place broke off at the head and they are torqued in there and I cant get them off (means the TPS isn't bolted on whenever its on there)

thanks!

Besides checking the spring tension, make sure the tb twin bores are aligned with the plenum as squarely as possible when bolting it down. If it is a tad off , it wont work right. I just noticed you have a spacer also. Make sure the tb and spacer bores are aligned also, and seal them up with some gasket sealer.

the car at idle is finee, granted when its cold start it goes all the way up to 2k and stays there until it warms up

Personally, I'd take that TB off, put back on the stocker, and let it be someone else's tuning nightmare.

If there's one thing we've seen with these cars, it's that anything other than the stock TB eventually becomes an issue.

It's also not worth the extra 4 HP you potentially gain from it.

This is my .02. Individual mileage may vary.

Every little bit helps

With all due disrespect to how little TB's help, slowstang06 actually does have the supporting mods that might make it a more useful upgrade. (LT headers, midpipe, CMCV deletes, cams).

I know it will cost you alot more than you probably wanted to spend, but I would consider having another dyno tune done if you really want to keep running that TB.

it totally does, especially when you want to get to that 350 mark.....

im thinking ill put the stock one back in and tape the TPS to the TB for now.. and once i actually put the deletes in and maybe get some pullies or an eH20 then put it back in and get it tuned.. .sooo... pullies->eH20->TB->CMCV deletes-> dyno i mean the dyno goes for $150 which aint too bad.... and the guy said hed give me a temporary tune for the deletes for free onto my SCT until i take it to the shop

i agree, once thing i've seen acutally. people poliched and smoothing the stock one. only see power on fi, but its still an option. also port polish a gt500 tb.....if you dont wanna keep the bbk

The first mistake with that TB is nobody gets the base voltage from their stock TB when they remove it so they don't adjust the BBK to the same voltage.
