Axle Back or Cat Back
I was wondering if anyone could provide some insights on the benefits of going with a cat-back aftermarket solution vs an axle-back solution. Would you expect any performance gains by going with cat-back, or would it just be cosmetic/longevity (ie lifetime warranty)?
I'm looking at picking up the Borla Stingers, was just debating axle-back vs cat-back.

I went with SLP LoudMouth axle-back which is pretty much just a auditory mod. As far as I know, until you completely remove your cats, you're not really gaining much in terms of performance. High-flow cats are also an option, but there is no consensus as to the gains you can expect with high-flows.
I've never heard of substantive gains from a cat-back system. It's all pretty much just for sound.

The catback has no benefit over an axleback. The stock pipes are fine. But to add to your confusion, there's no gain performance gain, period, with either. Solely auditory. The stock exhaust flows darned well. Chalk 1 up for Ford...
