LOL! Looks like you all ready knew the problem. Seriously though, there have been countless problems with their previous coil packs. Hopefully the seller gave you the stock coils?

nope I sure don't have them. I will have to look at them for the problem I guess. I'm not sure how you gap the plugs I have, looks like they are an enclosed tip, the autolite HO's, how would you gap them, or check the gap? Thanks...So whats a good coil pack for these cars? How do you check them?

Get rid of the GMS coils and your problem will be solved. I went through the same thing replacing plugs fuel filter different fuel, as soon as I removed and replaced the GMS coils with the stock ones the car has run perfect. It seems for each set they sell one is good and two are defective.

HT0s actually and a few companies sell special gaping tools Piedmont Modular Performance sells a good one and IIRC Steeda has one as well.

Granatelli is the problem.
Search Granatelli and find your answer.
The carbon item you disturbed was the
electrical interference resistor is my besy guess.
There was a big post about the Granatelli COPs last week or so.

Granatelli coil packs are garbage. I went through so many problems with their crappy coils that I swear I'll never buy another product from them.

Do yourself a favor:

Or if you prefer aftermarket coils, I haven't heard of failure issues with MSD coils.

Thank you. All your help has been great. I just bought stock coil packs off ebay thanks to some great advice. I'll throw them on and let ya know how she does for me. Granatelli is going to get a great message from me.

I've been using the accel coils for a year or so with no problems, but I have my stock coils in a box just in case. The accel coils are just a little step up from stock.
