Surprisingly good dyno run Whipple H.O.
Got my 06 Vert Whipple H.O. on the dyno today, and was surprised to see a 524RWHP rating, despite 94F heat! This S/C kit is truly impressive: the worst run we had was still at 500RWP. The tune was delivered with the S/C by FRPP, bases on my car VIN. I get they really know what they are doing.
Also Installed the FRPP handling kit (minus the springs) and was truly impressed of how much better the car felt afterward. No more floating around, it feels glued to the road.
As it stands today, this stang is really the most enjoyable drive I ever had.

I have the 3.25 pulley for 10-11PSI, as supplied by FRPP. I did not do anything special to the car, except changing the exhaust to the Bullit model (barely better by the way, I should have gone more aggressive). Either the tune was really good (i had perfect flat fluel/air ratio throughout the rpm range) or the stock engine was good to begin with. The things though, I rarely venture above 5K RPMs, all the torque comes so early (503 lbs-ft at the rear wheel at 4,500 RPMs).

I'm thinking the VIN has more to do with knowing what's done to your car than for tuning purposes. Sure they may have gotten the PCM strategy from the VIN but I think it's prob more so you don't go back to the dealer complaining about a blown motor saying you don't know what happened and the car was stock ........250rwhp over stock!! haha

Thats awesome I'm going to install the Whipple H.O. this coming winter but 524RWHP???? That doesn't make sense being its a 550 BHP kit, at 524 to the wheels that means you're making about 614 at the crank!!! I'ld say thats one really loose dyno.

This is a gen 2 Whipple and I was told to account for about 12% drivetrain loss with the 5 speed (loss is around 20% of Auto tranny). So yes, this would mean around 590HP at the crank. The 550HP FRPP claim should have translated to 480-490 RWHP. I can only speculate that the stock engine was higher than average. The dyno was a dynojet research rated for up to 600HP. Hot temperature should have played against a high result.
Bottom line, the FRPP Whipple HO kit seems to be easiest way to get top HP from 4.6 in a reliable and very street friendly manner. Add the FRPP handling kit, and the mustang becomes one formidable sport car for an incredible value.
As far as the VIN, I knew I was losing the warranty the minute I had the H.O. installed, but I don't care. Life is too short to keep worrying about the worst. I'll enjoy this toy every day for as long as it can last. I am pretty confident I'l get lots on mile on it, since I am not racing. Once you get the stand mod virus, it becomes rather addictive...
