Default Which mid-pipe?

So I think my next mod will be an x-pipe, but I don't know if I should spend almost $600 for the Bassani x-pipe that has O/R legs and cats, or if I should just get a catted x. I have to pass emissions, so I cannot get an o/r x, I'd prefer to not switch out the whole thing every year. So basically what I'm asking is, is a catted x worth the money? Will I notice a good increase in sound, or will I be wishing I had spent the extra money?

I had the Magnaflow X-Pipe with no cats and at the time I had the Magnaflow Mufflers. I took it back off after a week because I didn't like it. I sold it to my brother and he has the Pypes Mid Muffler Exhaust and it sounds good.

The theory is that if you have chambered muflers then a H-Pipe sounds better and if you have glasspack type mufflers then a X-pipe sounds better.

Good luck,

Al

I should add that I do have Magnapacks so it is a glasspack type, I am mainly wondering how much of a difference in sound I would notice with a catted x.

I know you said you don't want to switch the pipe for emissions testing, but you can get a pypes o/r h-pipe for $140 shipped from brenspeed. Thats what I did and it only takes 1-2 hours on ramps or jack stands with a couple of sockets to swap back and forth.

Ya I was really looking for an x rather than h too, but I just saw brenspeeds price on the Bassani x is over $100 cheaper than anywhere else, so I am going to go with that.

Brenspeed's Bassani X is the aluminized version. That's why it is cheaper. The other one is stainless steel.

After adding mufflers, my next mod to the car was a bassani catted-X. After that I added bassani headers. What I can tell you is the cats are the volume **** on our exhaust.

The x-pipe changes the tone of the exhaust. But the high flow cats make it a lot louder and more aggressive sounding.

So it will be a lot louder even with the high flow cats? If so that will be nice so if it is too loud without cats then hopefully catted will be the right sound.

Yes, high flow cats are quite a bit louder than stock cats. I think you will be pleased with that.

I have not tried o/r (no cats), but I understand that's even louder.

What muffler are you running? A stock muffler or GTA muffler could still prevent the exhaust from being very loud.

Oh, I see...magnapacks. I think that would be badass with a bassani catted X. That bullet-style (looks like a can and can see straight through it) goes with x pipes better than chambered mufflers.

The magnapack is similar to Bassani Race which I have and I love it. You're gonna like that setup a lot.
