Truely I have never been dissapointed with flowmaster till now, the sound is good below 2400rpms but above that it has this horible rahsp or buzz.... It reminds me of the way a v6 with no cats would sound with 40's on it. Has anyone else awoken the buzz monster with this setup? If so what did u do to stop it haha.

Thanks in advance

Flows with O/R H-pipe. You will like the sound. Had the same problem as you with chambered mufflers so went with the H.

If you keep the x get straight thru mufflers. Or keep the flows and get a prochamber. I will be the first to admit I felt a noticable decrease in low end torque when I got my o/r prochamber.

I also noticed a decrease in low end tq with the O/R prochamber. I believe all o/r mid pipes will decrease low end tq. Adding hi-flows gave the car back it's low end tq and then some.

I hafta back NIN up on this... Cat delete is never a good idea. You have to think of the exhaust system as a tuned system, at least as far back as the rear O2's anyway... The volume of air in there is a known quantity to the Spanish Oak processor (or more correctly the volume of air between the maf sensor and the rear O2 sensor), and any time you go messing with it without updating the airflow models the computer uses, it's not a good thing. If yourhot and heavy on modding the cats, go highflow. The stock cats are not that bad really anyway. I've seen 600 and 700 hp cars replacing the with highflow options and only seeing a 25 to 30hp gain, and offroad pipes not even getting that much.

/update/ I contacted flowmaster and they are sending me a set of traditional 40's free and I'm returning my 44's to summit 4 a refund. I decided to see what they would do 4 me and they are taking care of me! I was really surprised......

I am new to the S197 world but my 89 LX with off-road H and flowmasters sounded wicked... interesting how the S197 sounds terrible.

Yea I think the super 44 and the 4.6 3v W/x are not a good pair for some reason. I put a set on my neighbors charger about a year ago and he loves them, sounds decent to..... I still love the way my other 2 mustangs sound with flows just wish this one would sound the same.

You might still end up disappointed. Previous generation mustangs had the mufflers located before the rear axle with plenty of tailpipe to smooth out the tone. There is almost no tailpipe on the S197, so you get to hear every bit of nastiness that comes out of that muffler as soon as it comes out. In my opinion, the only way to get a great sound out of these cars is to relocate the mufflers to the front of the rear axle.
