Default TCS WILL NOT TURN ON.

Hey guys,

I just got my car back from the body shop, I had a front bumper replaced, a headlight replaced, drvr fog light replace, driver fender replaced and everything was painted. The car looks great, however, my clock is off about a hour, my abs light is on, my ebrake light is on, and my TCS(Traction control sys) is off and will not turn on.

I called the shop only to be informed that the tech has left for the day, to bring it back on Monday. I also notice my e brake seems to be a little tighter then normal. Then when I went for a second drive, the message display said to check brake system.

The car seems to drive fine, however, I don't know why my car is doing this and if I should be worried.

Sounds like you should do limited driving this weekend! You don't want it to end up back there other than to fix your current issue! Might want to check the break fluid to make sure it has enough!

I check the fluids, there fine. I also notice my ebrake is a lot "tighter" feeling then before. This is weird, I'm going call Ford but I can't see what a body shop can do to cause this.

Most would love to have the TCS disabled.
Most Body Shops only fix the physical damage and cant
comprehend the S197s advanced electrical system.
Seems like you need a trip to a Ford dealership.
Make the insurance company pay to get it fixed right.

I don't care about driving w/ TCS off, but I don't like it for even for a simple reason as reselling the car. Wouldn't I have the body shop pay for anything since its there fault not the insurance fault.

Take a look at TSB 19296. Sounds like it might be the bad ground mentioned in that one. I bet they forgot to hook up the grounds on the upper radiator mount properly; I suggest you check to see if those are loose.

Did you ever find out the issue on this? We just did the same thing in replacing the bumper cover, grill and headlights and while making a left turn the ABS light came on and the TCS will not turn back on. If anyone had the same thing and found the solution let me know.

Thanks...

sigh, get the codes pulled for the abs module, then see what it indicates as a fault. guessing is a waste of time.

Check the wheel rotation sensors on your wheels, especially the front ones. These govern both the traction control and ABS systems.
