. . . traded it in on a 5.0, the title should say.
Well, those who have seen some of my posts (as well as a couple of local MF'ers to which I have spoken), know I was getting pretty frustrated with my 2010 GT. I know I'm picky, but the car had . . . issues.
Recently, the "tick" under load that I had complained about had gotten worse. I took it to a dealer and they acknowledged the problem. The advisor believed I had an engine issue but, after consulting with his manager, said they didn't have the tools to fix it (they were a Lincoln dealer, not Ford).
So, I took it to a Ford dealer, and they heard the problem too. However, they had no idea what could be causing it (i.e. engine, exhaust, simple rattle, etc). They emailed Ford, who recommended some basic but useless steps. So, the dealer asked me to leave the car for a few days, and then said that they would be "lucky" to figure it out (since the car wouldn't tick under idle, only load). Then they said that a Ford engineer might have to come out, blah, blah, blah.
So, I walked my happy **** over to the sales department and started talking with a salesman about a new 2011 GT they had on the lot. The car had 7.2 miles on it, and had not even been prepped. Long story short, I walked out of there 6 hours later with a new car.
Since I bought the 2010 used with 900 miles, and I had gotten such a good deal on it at that time, I didn't take as bad a hit as you might think. More than anything else, I ate the Michigan sales taxes charged when I bought the 2010.
Hard to tell what the issue was with the 2010 . . . I really did love the car at first. Interestingly, the dealer mentioned that its computers showed the 2010 had "paint work" done during the first 900 miles before I owned it. Makes me wonder just what was done to it before I got it. Note, a Carfax report revealed nothing out of the ordinary.
Anyway, I'm loving the 2011!
