Any brand filter oil will do and you can degrease/clean with household dish detergent if you wanted to. I, too, prefer the blue color of my Steeda so I picked up a kit with blue dyed oil. Just be sure to follow the directions and let the filter dry thoroughly (I always give mine 24 hours with air movement) before re-oiling.

I have the BBK filter and i use the K&N cleaning kit with the red oil. The filter stays blue, dont worry. Been using it for a few years now.

I have the BBK intake from Brenspeed with the blue filter. It needs oiled and the red oil is just fine. I have several years on it and its still nice and blue.

i have the red oil from the k and n kit, i thought the oil needed to be blue for the blue filters. So i could i just use dish wash soap and follow that with the red oil. Just dont want to mess it up thats all

thanks

I dunno, after like two uses of the red stuff, my filter was more of a Grey. Same with my Steeda now.

I've always used the cleaner that comes with the oil. Comes in a kit. I guess dishsoap would be OK, but dont quote me on that.
