Default engine pinging... again

Hi,

I got Brenspeed tune package about 1.5 years ago. The first time I got it my engine started pinging and Brenspeed sent me another tune which fixed it... until now. 1.5 years later it suddenly started again. At 4000 rpm and higher my engine starts pinging. What can be the cause of that suddenly?

Have you changed where you get gas? Usually, pinging is caused by too low octane. I would advise you to put in a better grade or change where you buy gas for awhile and see if it goes away.

+1 on potential bad gas; also run some seafoam and see what happens.

Carbon deposits from unburned gas. Caused by using too high of octane for the tune. It takes awhile and over time enough carbon builds up to reduce combustion chamber volume and increase compression ratio.

Try the seafoam.

All good suggestions above. If your tune was fine and the pinging began recently, I'd suspect the octane level or your engine and NOT the tune. You may also want to reset the adaptive learning (disconnect the battery for about 20-30 minutes) and reload the tune but I suspect it's either the gas or carbon buildup as stated above.
